Lake Cargelligo Tourism Activation Precinct Completed
Published on 29 September 2023
Lachlan Shire Council is pleased to announce that the Lake Cargelligo Tourism Activation Project has been completed. This will be marked by an official opening ceremony on 30 September 2023.
The project has improved the visual appearance of the main street of Lake Cargelligo which will enhance the experience of the local community and visitors to the town. It incorporated the upgrade of ageing infrastructure and installation of new facilities. Storm water drainage, roads, water mains, footpaths and kerb and guttering were replaced during the work to improve services in the Lake Cargelligo shopping centre. The installation of new facilities including pedestrian refuges, pram ramps and a round-a-bout will increase the safety of all who use the Foster Street precinct.
Completion of the project was impacted by several hurdles including shortages of labour and materials following the Covid-19 pandemic, and record flooding during 2022. Lachlan Shire Council appreciates the community’s patience while work was underway. We look forward to your enjoyment of the revitalised tourism and shopping precinct.
The project was made possible through joint funding from the Australian Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the Roads to Recovery Program and the Regional Recovery Partnerships Program ($1.8m); the NSW Government under the Regional Recovery Package ($1.8m); and Lachlan Shire Council ($150k).
