There is a plenty of action on the foreshore of Lake Cargelligo at present. Work is in progress to replace pathways damaged during the 2022 flood and rehabilitate the eroded areas of the bank. While this is underway, construction has commenced on the Liberty Park Masterplan. This plan will revitalise the foreshore at Liberty Park to provide a beautiful space for locals and visitors to enjoy our magnificent lake

The plan includes levelling of the site to provide a smooth area ideal for picnics and events, new footpaths linking Foster Street to the lakeside pathway and a feature seating area to soak up the view. The linking paths will be lit with festoon lights and will provide the perfect place to enjoy an evening walk on the foreshore.

Upgrade work also includes functional aspects like power outlets for events and a water drinking station with bottle refill and dog hydration features. The existing fountain has been removed to provide an open central area, and plans are progressing to install a new fountain on the lake.

Finally, an electronic noticeboard will be installed to keep locals and visitors up to date with what is going on around Lachlan Shire.

Mayor of Lachlan Shire, Councillor John Medcalf OAM, is pleased this work is underway. “I am excited to see work on the masterplan for redevelopment of Liberty Park commence. Lake Cargelligo is one of the highlights of our shire. This project will not only benefit the community, it will also help attract visitors to the region by enhancing their enjoyment of our fabulous lake” Councillor Medcalf concluded.
